Greening the MLS

Here is what I came up with for potential Green MLS fields. I do realize that some of these may not apply due to certain building codes. I believe Oklahoma does not allow cob or monolithic adobe construction and it seems there is something weird with wind turbines and height. These may not be allowed in the city, but be okay outside the city. Let me know your thoughts. Sustainable certifications/reports • NAHB (Bronze, Silver, Gold) • USGBC LEED (Silver, Gold, Platinum) • HERS or Energy Smart Home Scale Rating Location, Lot Design/description, Development • Infill • Native Plants/drought resistant landscape/xeriscape (lot description) • Compost (lot description) • Rain garden • Permeable surfaces for drives, sidewalks, patios (parking) • Solarium/sun room/green house • Solar heated pool or spa/solar cover (pool type) • Sprinkler timer Resource Efficiency • SIP/ICF (construction) • Thermal mass construction • Green/living roof (roof) • Radiant barrier (roof) • Natural building material (adobe, straw bale, rammed earth) • FSC Certified wood (interior features) • Rapidly renewable flooring (bamboo, cork, recycled wood) • Recycled content for building materials • Locally available, indigenous material • Wind generator • turbines Energy Efficiency • Energy Star rated windows/skylights • Low E dual pane windows • Storm doors/storm windows • Energy Star ceiling fans • Energy Star appliances • Energy Star lighting • Solar hot water system • Solar photovoltaic system • Passive solar system • Radiant Flooring • High R value insulation • EPA Rated Fireplace/heatilator • Programmable thermostat • Geo-thermal • Whole house fan • Zoned A/C • LED lighting • Natural Day lighting • Chemical free insulation Water Efficiency • Rainwater harvesting • Grey water plumbing • Point-of-use on demand tankless hot water heater • Solar hot water heater • Low flow faucets and showerheads • Dual-flush/low flow toilet • Energy Star water conserving appliances • Low volume drip irrigation Indoor Environmental Quality • EPS Energy Star Indoor Air Quality Package • Exhaust systems in kitchen/bath vent to outside • Whole house air filtration system • Green seal certified or low VOC coatings/paints • Green label certified carpets/backings • Cabinets have no formaldehyde resins/Low VOC

  1. Construction: OVE (Optimum Value Engineering) or Advanced Framing Technique, split up SIP's and ICF's

Certifications: HERS Index, ENERGY STAR, USGBC LEED certified

Energy Efficiency: HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilator), ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilator), and Air Cycler, Spray Foam Insulated Walls, Foam insulated foundation

Resource Efficiency or maybe Energy Efficiency: Ventless Attic (conditioned attic), and IC rated recessed can lights

    Water Efficiency; Instant Hot Water
