Facebook Fan Page

If you are not a fan of the Facebook page, please add it and suggest it to friends and colleagues who you think might be even remotely interested. We need some interaction on the page. Facebook is a great way to promote events and organizations but if there is no interaction people won't go back to it. I would like to start promoting the Earth Day event on the page. Vickie, if you could set that up as an event, that would be great. I noticed we only have 16 fans as of today. We should have 100's by now so start sending it out to your sphere. I just sent it out to mine. Sarah, you should be able to send 100's of folks to it with all the Realtors you are connected to! :) Also Vickie, can you say where we are located? The Green REsource Council is nationwide so we should probably say that we are the OKC chapter. Thanks a bunch! I expect to see at least a hundred fans on there by week's end.

Logo Ideas

Here area couple ideas for logos based on our conversation in the last meeting. Let me know what you think.

Greening the MLS

Here is what I came up with for potential Green MLS fields. I do realize that some of these may not apply due to certain building codes. I believe Oklahoma does not allow cob or monolithic adobe construction and it seems there is something weird with wind turbines and height. These may not be allowed in the city, but be okay outside the city. Let me know your thoughts. Electric Company Resources

I am actively researching the local electric companies to find out what kind of community initiatives they have in place to help us on our mission to GoGreenOKC! If anyone has any resources, links, people, etc...feel free to comment. Thanks!

Recap of Conference Call

Thanks everyone for attempting the call today. I personally have had computer issues all week so I apologize for the short notice on how to get on the call. We should have all the bugs worked out for the next one (crossing fingers). The main things we decided during the call were: *The URL for the resource page www.gogreenokc.com *Our next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, March 4th at 9:30 at OKCMAR. This is pending availability of the board room at OKCMAR. I will confirm ASAP so we can all get it on our calenders. *Leslie Denton is moving to Arkansas and will no longer be a member of the committee. We will miss you Leslie! *Katrina has a few logo ideas she is going to post to the blog. *Simon is going to be helping coordinate the drop off points for the Earth Day recycle drive *Gayle is going to be helping Michelle and Elizabeth with details on the cocktail party That's about it, in a nutshell. Sorry we missed everyone else. I'm looking forward to speaking to each of you in the near future!

Drop Locations

In talking with my broker after the call today about volunteering the Keller Williams Choctaw office as a possible site, she brought up a great question:
Does the spot need to be indoors or out?
Since we are not specifying what type of materials will be taken/excluding it might not be a good idea to ask our locations to house the waste inside. This would also allow for a drop-off any time, rather than normal business hours.
That said, leaving the items outside would potentially leave us open to having all kinds of things dropped.
Any thoughts?

Location for Earth Day Event

I have a friend at Boldt and I asked him about renting out the lobby. They are offering to host our event for FREE. He told me to call him on Monday to firm up details. They are a silver LEED certified building with 36 credits. They were the first silver in Oklahoma, I believe. Thoughts?

URL/Facebook

Hello! I wanted to check on the status of a web address and the facebook group. Has anyone given it any thought? I also wanted to let you know that we will be ordering the reuseable bags the beginning of next week, for the Spring Conference. (I think we are trying to stay away from the bright green bags, unless that is what you'd refer?) I will be devoting part of my day tomorrow to the OKCMAR Facebook & Twitter accounts, if you'd like me to create the GRC group just let me know.

New Members

I want to welcome 5 new prospective members to our group! We are very excited to collaborate on the Green Issues at hand! Let's try this...

After a very productive first meeting of the OKCMAR Green Resource Council, we all decided that it would be fantastic if we could keep the conversation moving forward between official "meetings". I created a yahoo group, but I think it might be easier for everyone to communicate here instead. I've sent all members an invitation to become an administrator so we can all post. Thoughts?
